Fun decor and a huge menu. I ordered a calzone and it was great. Husband had a buffalo chicken sandwich that he said was just okay.

Not sure why this place is ranked so highly. OK, the decor is kitchy cute but the food is mediocre at best. Good service, however. Any place selling self-proclaimed 'killer onion rings' for $9 an order that aren't even close to being anything special doesn't cut it in my book.

Great, fast service, courteous staff and portions that match the prices. Our group of 8 people: 4 children and 4 adults felt nicely accommodated there. The juicy lucy with onions was great and the chicken breast on our salads nice and tender. If you have a group of sisters in your party they will take picture and place it on the website. Oh and I really enjoyed my mug of hot apple cider!

Surprisingly good! Quirky ambiance. Our waiter was not talkative, but he was very efficient. The food was good. The Bull Moose bison burger (bacon and BBQ sauce) was juicy, flavorful, and delicious. It was cooked medium-well: no pink, but still juicy! The Northshore Dog, with wild rice and mozzarella, also was flavorful and unique. Well worth the trip!

I wish I could give it two-and-a-half stars. It was okay, but I tried a burger and my partner had the "fungi" -- a portabella-cap sandwich. All the descriptions were pretty amazing; the food itself (that we tried) was just your basic bar food. It was fine. But the best thing we had was the (genuinely quite good) onion rings. It seems pretty clear it's a local hangout, so there's that. We'll come back for beer and onion rings. But we had heard some raves, and it just didn't measure up to that. Nothing was *bad*. But nothing (except the onion rings) was really a "wow". So, I mean, go. It's fine. Truly. Nothing is wrong with it. The service was good, the food was all right, the onion rings were awesome. It truly is somewhere between "meh" and "a-ok".

My husband and I came upon this place our first time visiting Grand Marais. We were looking for a place to eat and voila! We enjoyed it so much that whenever we are in town, we always stop there. We have hit this place during the height of tourist season and in the middle of winter and during spring and have never been disappointed. People have to keep their expectations reasonable. When the town is swamped with tourists, things are going to get held up, so don't expect immediate service as if you were in a town with 50 restaurants at your bidding. Being originally from a small town that gets overrun by tourists in the summer, I know this kind of restaurant well, so I don't expect Minneapolis-level cuisine (though I have had many long waits at restaurants in MPLS). The food is always great. We usually get the calzone and we always get the onion rings, which are of the shoestring variety. Once, while there in a more off-season time, we went two nights in a row and the same waitress waited on us. She enjoyed having us there twice and was extremely friendly. It's a favorite spot and we'll go again and again! Another benefit, it's one of the few things open after 6 on Sunday, when the whole town shuts down. Seriously.

We stopped in here on our way back from the Boundary Waters on Saturday night... needless to say, we were dirty and starving! The place was packed, we got the last table available before a line started to form. Our server appeared to also be the bartender and was very nice - although VERY busy! They also had a good selection of MN beer and we both ordered one, along with the Chili Fries. The serving was HUGE! For dinner, we both ordered a burger. For some reason, the order got screwed up and my food came out before my boyfriend's, but it was no big deal at all and our server apologized over and over. Seemed like he felt truly bad, although it was not a big deal and the second burger was out within minutes. Everything was great, the Wild Rice burger was one of my favorites! Definitely a good choice for some starving canoers!

Good, inexpensive food. Pizza, burgers, giant hot dogs, all topped with quality ingredients. Terrible customer service, and that's why they didn't score higher with me. In a town that lives and dies on tourism, I can't fathom why they wouldn't want to improve on this. I had a similar complaint when we ate here two years ago, and they said things would change; I can now see that they didn't take me seriously. That's fine; there are plenty of other places in Grand Marais I'd rather give my business to when I come to town.

I enjoy their sausage pizza. Nothing sticks out about it really but it hits the spot sometimes. Love that it comes in square pieces. Sorta reminds me of carbonies pizza in the cities. I tend to eat here when I don't want to cook and instead am up for picking something to eat at home. There are a lot of places that are ideal for summer eating in GM. I think My Sisters Place is a good choice for winter meals. They tend to be open all the time (unlike some places in town). They have warm, filling, cheesy, gooey, and things of that sort type meals. Stuff to warm your insides up. Also if your a foodie type (which I am) you might appreciate that they were on the food network in regards to their burgers.... Some extra notes: *I think this is a great place for kids or even larger groups of people. *The customer service I receive here is so very thoughtful and kind. :) Thanks for making my eating in or my taking out such a pleasant experience.

The service was decent but even though they were not that busy they couldn't be bothered to answer any questions about the food. I ordered anyway thinking they must have pretty good food if they can get away with poor service and still have customers. The "house" pizza was disappointing. The crust was like cardboard and the toppings were of low quality. The sauce was also bland. I tried the poutine because I will try that anywhere they dare to put it on the menu. It was pretty good though and the reason for my bump to 2 stars. The pizza is waaaay overpriced for such low quality. They charge more than Punch while their pizza is on the opposite end of the quality spectrum. Had I not been famished and tired, I'd have pitched it in the bin.

There aren't many places to eat in GM and another trip to Sven & Oles just wasn't sounding good. Bartended at the VFW recommended My Sister's Place. I had the mexi pizza which was pretty good. Delicious thin crispy crust. I have a favorite taco pizza and this one might have even been better. I'd definitely order it again. Fresh baked garlic bread was just ok - better with cheese. Table mates also had a burger which was "ok" and a Philly cheese which looked a bit "prefab". Generous serving of fries though. Definitely an alright, if not the only, place for a casual dinner in GM.

I'm sorry but the burgers here are totally average! Not worth the prices at all. The patties are obviously frozen and very dry and flavorless. Do they even season them? We ordered three burgers and all were the same flat uniform size and had almost no moisture. I've made better burgers at home! The buns are OK but the meat quality is on par with what you would find in Cubs freezer. They don't taste fresh at all. The people who say the burgers are great are nuts. The fries were bland with almost no salt. Do the cooks here know what seasoning is???

We were on holiday with friends up in the GM area, and we were told that we HAD to try out My Sister's Place...so we did! We were seated promptly, which was nice, considering we had a group of 7 (including 2 kids). The server seemed to be the sole front of house staff person on duty, as she was tending the bar and all of the tables. The place got fairly busy while we were there, but nothing the waitress/bar tender/manager/whatever couldn't handle. On the whole, the food was good. Nothing spectacular, just bar food, but still a fun experience. We had ordered a basket of onion rings for the table, which didn't come out until halfway into our meal, even though we requested that they be brought out first. Oh well. They were really tasty when they did come! The women's bathroom has an autographed picture of Cheryl Tiegs, as well as several film prints of sisters. What an odd combo! We got the picture of our friends' two girls taken, as they are sisters. Hopefully, someday they can come back and see their picture from their first visit to the North Shore. :) I was a little surprised at the fact that they didn't have a digital camera. I had no idea they still made disposable film cameras any more! :P

We ate at My Sisters Place three times during our week stay around Grand Marais. The service for our young family was warm and welcoming (a pleasant surprise as I had the impression it was a bit rough and rumble from the outside). Our top picks here were the excellent onion rings, which were light and crunchy (almost angelic as far as fried foods go) and the burgers. To note, the burgers were hit or miss as is reflected in other reviews, either juicy and flavorful or just not up to snuff. I have to say this was the first restaurant were the mushrooms on my burger tasted really earthy and perfectly 'mushroom-y', yum! Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a casual lunch or dinner.

The food was average. I would come probably come back if I pass through the town again but that's mostly because there aren't many other options for food. The prices are little high for what you get but the atmosphere is cute - antiques and collectables in a woodsy bar. I paid $13.50 for a salad that had some romaine and iceberg lettuce, standard corn chips, some beans and corn, a small serving of peppers and onions, dressing, and dry chicken. It wasn't bad but it could certainly be better. They also serve beer in mason jars which is somewhat trite.

A bit pricy for burgers. The Chili is great, if you love Chili Dogs try the Chili Dog(it's something you will have to eat with a fork and knife). The Chili is fantastic. I had the Philly Burger, nothing to write home about. All the burgers are nearly one price so if you get a regular burger, a patty melt, a Philly, all the same price. The menu said all sandwiches made with homemade soup, or Homemade Cole Slaw, or Homemade Frys. I opted for the Chili, the chili was apparently not a soup and involved a $1 surcharge so I opted instead of the soup of the day which was like a tomato bisque (a cup, a cup of Chili is a .75 more than a cup of Chili, same with the bowl's) but, since I am not into Fry's or coleslaw as I am into soups I went with the soup(forgettable). It tasted like they opened a big can (versus a step-up in unfreezing a bag), it was Cara's homemade soup of the day, second week of deer opener most people (staff) on the North Shore are hunting or vacationing. It's dead, I think Cara must have taken the day off. Anyhow the sandwich was good, I guess being in the middle of nowhere the Philly was not bad. The place was packed, compared to the 'other place that makes pizza and serves ice creme'. We had 9 people and were crunched for time as most places on Saturday (Pharmacy, etc) closed at 1pm if they were not already closed for the season (or between seasons). We asked for the check immediately after being served, gave a reminder, ended up standing next to the register for 10 minutes, almost convinced my dad to dine and ditch (I have never done it before). Oh also the sweet potato fry's were pretty good. I would not be able to eat a whole order though (not a fry person to begin with). Of the places in Grand Maris I would recommend eating here I just can't give it more than 3 stars.

A great place for a meal no matter what you're in the mood for. Their pizzas are fabulous, salads amazing, burgers to die for and calzones out of this world. Service is fast and friendly and the price is right. I love the atmosphere and the abundant parking. You can't go wrong with a trip to My Sister's Place in Grand Marais.

Quick, tasty, and reasonably priced - I like to stop by when I'm in GM. not sure if they still have it, but the "world's smallest sundae" was a cute idea (a baby hot fudge sunday for 99 cents). Nice people and good service.

If a greasy burger is whatcha you need after pulling out of the BWCA, head down to the confusingly named My Sister's Place. Great sandwiches, slaw and beer. However, our "Mexi-Fries" were a little disappointing. Bonus points for liberal application of liberal bumper stickers.

Let everyone else wait outside on the porch to eat here. The bartender's attitude wasn't even shy of rude. After an inexplicable delay due to a broken wine cork - how about just opening another bottle, then? - and an admonishment that we couldn't order our food just then because two tables had come in ahead of us and were waiting on her, she then had a lengthy kibbitz with another employee before heading over to aforementioned tables. When we had the audacity to ask the status on the glass of wine which still hadn't arrived, we were told we'd already been told what the problem was. Okay, then. We quickly finished our drink and headed out. There's a fine line between local color and total disdain for the customers that, you know, pay the money that keeps your place open. Totally underwhelming. Lucky for them they're on the main drag.

featured on "bizarre foods" by andrew zimmern, trekked up to try the goober burger - a patty adorned with peanut butter and mayo. admittedly, it was not bad as it sounds and was pretty darn good! left more of a lasting impression than any of the other burgers i tried. overall, worth checking out if you're ever heading up the north shore. love the cabin decor, biker feel, and the satirical bumper stickers.

Yum! Their calzones are very yummy! The staff is very friendly and this is a family friendly environment too. Pizza is good and also known for their burgers. I enjoy their dining room it is cozy and nice to visit with my friends.

Good food, good service. Only thing I would suggest is a full bar. Great prices and selection for a tourist trap town. Will definitely keep it as a place to go in Grand Marais. I had the chili dog and my wife had the juicy lucy, both with fries. Food came in a timely manner a d was what we expected.

Okay but not going back... Twenty minutes after ordering we were told several menu choices were sold out. Chicken gizzards were overcooked and a waste of money even though they were highlighted on the Food Channel. Pizza was okay. The waitress was very friendly and nice. Btw, the Aspen Lodge highly recommended this restaurant so be aware.

All things set aside this place was fantastic. The famous Guber Burger was a little played up because of it being featured on the Travel Channel but the other burgers were just as amazing. The atmosphere is very very unique and is a pretty cool to just sit at the bar and look at all the license plates and other nic nacs that are scattered around the bar. The service was great, considering we were just before the lunch rush, and the prices were very reasonable for the location (being around 45 minutes from the US-Canadian border). Overall Service was great Food was phenomenal and well worth the slight wait that might accrue when you are waiting for delicious burgers Prices are very reasonable for the location and quantity of the food.

This place is creative with their burgers. I went here twice and had an olive burger (green olives and cream cheese) and a goober burger (mayo and peanut butter). While both sound sketchy, they make a good combination. It makes me want to try other combos of burger that you might not think would work, like wasabi and salmon. Hmm... maybe I'll leave the creative genius to the folks at My Sisters Place. This place is a "must stop at from now on" when we are in Grand Marais. Great food, great service, great decor in the restaurant. the beer was a bit pricy, but they had a selection of great craft brews to choose from.

Reasons Why I Love My Sisters Place -The Burgers! If you order a burger from My Sisters Place you will not be disappointed! I personal enjoy sticking with the classics; however I know a ton of people who go crazy for the Goober Burger (burger with mayo & peanut butter). I haven't tried the Goober Burger but I've witnessed enough people joyfully devour this bad boy like there ain't no tomorrow! -If you're looking for good, greasy comfort food, this is the place to go. -You can never ever go wrong with the Shrooms appetizer -All of the cool stuff hanging on the walls & ceiling keep diners busy while they wait for their food -The Honey Jalapeno Sauce is to-die-for! If My Sisters Place sold the sauce in jars, I would load up my car with it before I head back home (not even kidding). This sauce turns an average French fry into a five star French fry. Plus, the Honey Jalapeno Sauce is great on pretty much anything, minus deserts (not that I've tried it...) -Perfect for meat lovers, families and children. Vegetarian options available -Reasonably priced. An average meal is $8-$11 (excluding beverage) -Perfect portion sizes -Average service -Misc: Clean bathrooms, darkly lit yet pulls of a welcoming environment, laid back.Outdoor patio area recently added

Loved the decor on the inside, has the nice rustic Northern Minnesota feel. The service was average and was not that impressed with their drink menu. Expected a lot more beer selections. The food was just ok, the pizza we ordered was a little below average, the sauce reminded me of elementary school pizza. The Juicy Lucy my wife ordered was very disappointing, there was barely any cheese in the middle just mostly onions. They should leave this to the 5/8ths club or Matt's bar. Of course, I tried the goober burger which is a burger topped with peanut butter and mayonnaise. The burger itself was ok, you just get sick of it after a while as the peanut butter constantly sticks to your mouth, without the mayo the burger would be inedible. I probably would not come back here!

While in Grand Marais my dad and i ate here two nights in a row. First night we both got the blue boy burger and fries. The hamburger i thought needed more seasoning so i ended up salting it and also i wish it would have had more cheese inside it. The fries and homemade onion rings hit the special spot in my belly. The onion rings were the bomb! I also like how the drinks come in mason jars and the waitress kept our jars full. The next night i got a side salad and chicken gizzards. The salad was very fresh and crisp and the gizzards seasoned nicely. I just wish the chicken gizzards would have been cooked a little longer but that is just a preference of mine. My dad got the chicken alfredo pizza which he said was different and he would get again but wishes it would have been more done. Everything was good but not quite there for 5 stars.

I'm already missing My Sisters Place now that I'm back in Minneapolis; we enjoyed it so much that we went twice during our week in Grand Marais. I was impressed right away with the appetizers, we got the Shrooms the first time and classic cheese curds the second. Deep fried portobello mushrooms with a very tasty horseradish sauce -not at all what I was expecting, but definitely welcome, and delicious. The curds were not State Fair quality but tasty nonetheless. The portions were large enough for our family to share without bickering, too. Kids meals were decent. Large enough portions for the always hungry 8 year old and decently priced. Nothing out of the ordinary, but well done classic kids meals. I'm happy they had the decency to state that their Mac and Cheese was Kraft, which is a kids meal pet peeve of mine. My kids opted for the grilled cheese and the chicken strips, both with a side of fries. I was pretty happy with my BLT on trip one and the broccoli cheese soup on the second visit. Neither were spectacular but decent enough. I was underwhelmed by the $2.50 hot tea, a boring Lipton packet (that probably cost them a quarter). A definite four out of five, I'm sure we will go back when we are in town.

A little off the Main downtown area but well worth the walk. Seat yourself and be prepared for good food and great atmosphere. Decent small but local craft beer selection and some wine but no booze. Food is mostly focused on great burger combos and hot dogs and other classic sandwiches. I tried the GOOBER wife had banana pepper bison burger. We shared a basket of thin cut sweet tater fries and for a buck more you get a honey jalepeno doping sauce. All in all it is priced the best for the town that likes to overcharge based on tourism.

I would have loved to rate this place higher if I was only rating the food. However, service did bring down my rating. Lets start with the food, we had a basket of fries which were so deliciously good especially when they came out piping hot! I had a veggie calzone and hubby had the blue pig burger which was a jucy lucy stuffed with bacon and blue cheese. Hubby really enjoyed the burger. While my calzone was delicious, I was getting stressed out because the calzone was cut in half and there was a lot of liquid-y juices swimming around my plate which of course made the bottom of my calzone soggy which like I said, just stresses me out because I hate soggy bread/crusts and there was nothing I could do to prevent the sogginess since it came out soaked in juice! okay, now on to the service. Went in and there was a sign that said please wait to be seated. So we waited, and waited, and waited some more. Meanwhile, it took two servers to ring up a beer at the bar right next to the please wait to be seated sign, and while they were doing that I managed to make eye contact with one of them twice but no one ever came to seat us. Hubby and I finally stopped one of the workers there to get us seated. Once seated, things started to get better since we were able to order and get our food!
